BGA Medical Requirements
In recognition of the current difficulty of arranging consultations with GPs and AMEs and following discussion with the BGA medical advisors, the BGA Executive Committee has agreed two temporary changes to the BGA medical requirements.
These changes extend existing GP-endorsed medical declarations and introduce use of the CAA's pilot medical declaration system.
The two changes which should be read alongside the BGA medical requirements are available here.
Please note that these two changes affect only pilots flying gliders within the UK and have no effect for any flight for which a CAA or EASA pilot licence is required. Where a CAA or EASA licence is required, the relevant CAA or EASA medical requirements apply, including any relevant CAA exemption.
The BGA medical requirements publication will be updated in early 2021, ie after the CAA has published details of an anticipated revised approach to recreational pilot medicals in the UK.
Kind regards
Pete Stratten
